Pixie Picnic is a 1948 Musical Miniature short directed by Dick Lundy.
Plot[]
An orchestra of gnomes (some of whom look like they might know Snow White). As they are playing flowers and other organic instruments in the forest, there are various mishaps, all timed to music. A chef inflates a trussed turkey, which explodes, showering the pixies with various foodstuffs; a bottle of ketchup squirts out one gnome's ears as he plays. One pixie falls in the cider well and emerges drunk; he goes to play ten pins, and after various mishaps including shooting the ball from a cannon (along with himself), hits a pumpkin truck. The cargo rolls through the field, carrying the entire orchestra away.
Characters[]
- Pixies
- Woody Woodpecker (cameo)
- Bee
- Gopher
Notes[]
- CTC aired a restored master from the 90s of the cartoon on same one aired.
- Despite the short being restored in 2008 for The Woody Woodpecker and Friends Classic Cartoon Collection: Volume 2 DVD release, the broadcast of this short on MeTV during the show Saturday Morning Cartoons's The Woody Woodpecker Show is an unrestored version instead of using the restored DVD version.
- For some reason, MeTV's Saturday Morning Cartoons' airing of this short has the 1947-1954 Universal-International opening logo plastered in before switching to the rest of the short's opening titles. A similar problem occurred on the Andy Panda short "Crow Crazy", Musical Miniature short "Kiddie Koncert" and The Beary Family short "Fowled-Up Birthday".
