Mouse Trapped is a 1959 Hickory Dickory and Doc short directed by Alex Lovy.

Plot[]

Hickory and Dickory, two small mice, are enjoying a TV show when the program is interrupted for a special bulletin from the police department. The bulletin states that, the day being Friday the 13th, the Mayor and the Police Commissioner have proclaimed all black cats a menace to the city's safety, and the cops are ordered to pick up all black cats. Doc, a black cat, is busy scrounging a meal from the garbage pails in the alley. He places his carefully chosen meal in the inside cover of an ash can and strolls into the avenue. Police cars from every direction converge on Doc. Hickory and Dickory endeavor to save Doc, but every effort on their part somehow backfires to Doc's disadvantage. They hide him in a doghouse, but a bulldog's occupying it, and Doc is forcefully ejected and dropped into an ash can. Every time that Doc escapes the police, the bulldog turns up and causes trouble. He becomes both nemesis and menace. Finally, Doc finds a can of whitewash and paints himself white. He passes the bulldog and a cordon of police without recognition. When he thinks that he's safe, Hickory and Dickory turn a hose on him, so the beginning of another black cat hunt is on again. The story ends with Doc being sent up in a makeshift space capsule to orbit the earth.
