Fractured Friendship is a 1965 Chilly Willy short Directed by Sid Marcus.

Plot[]

Chilly Willy tries to thwart his best friend Smedley's attempts to leave the frozen tundra and move to Hawaii. The freezing Arctic weather proves too much for thin-blooded Smedley, and he decides to move to Hawaii to enjoy the warm, tropical climate. Smedley triess to leave in a rowboat. Willy lassoes the boat, causing it to sink. Smedley paddles away in a raft, and Chilly Willy's going-away present, some explosives, sinks that, too. Smedley tries to blast off in a rocket, and the nosecone falls off. Smedley ties birds to each of his arms. They lift him high into the air, and Willy throws birdseed on the snow, causing the animals to dive to Earth, dragging Smedley down with them. An attempt by Smedley to propel himself with a giant slingshot produces equally disastrous results. Each time, Smedley goes crashing to Earth- or into a snowbank- or into freezing waters. Chilly Willy is there to welcome his friend back. In the end, Smedley gives up, and we see him basking happily under a sunlamp while Chilly Willy laps at an ice cream cone nearby.
